Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) can correct sagging eyelids, remove fatty pouches beneath the eyes and remove excess skin from the upper and the lower lids. Blepharoplasty can be done alone, or togethr with other facial surgeries such as facelift (S-Lift), Chin implants and nose jobs. 

 

Eyelid surgery can be performed alone as an out-patient procedure using local anesthesia, intra-venous sedation or general anesthesia. Following the incisions the excess skin and the fatty deposits are removed and the incisions are closed using fine sutures. The sutures are removed after 7 days. 

 

After the surgery the patients are asked to use antibiotic eye oinments and artificial tear drops for few days. Patients should keep their heads up and alo their heads should be higher than their bodies in bed to avoid swelling during the night time as they sleep. The lower lid will be taped for 4-5 days to avoid the tension on the fixation sutures. 

 

After the surgery, the area around your eye will be bruised and swollen for about a week. Starting from the 4th day some herbal drugs such as Arnica Montana or Bromelaine will be given to you in order to reduce the brusing. Make-up and contact lenses may be worn about 8 days.
